Wrapping Ideas

14 Dec

1. Oatmeal Containers

Cardboard oatmeal containers are the perfect quick-wrap solution. Just wrap a band of wrapping paper around the outside of the container, and stick your gift inside. For a truly spectacular finish, cut a circle of paper to go on the top of the lid.

2. Recycled Gift Bags

Gift bags are pricey, and it’s sad to think that many of them only get used once. Get in the habit of saving all of the bags that you receive, and you’ll have a near-endless stash of Christmas bags to draw from.

3. Kids’ Artwork

Do you have a budding artist in the house? If so, save his or her larger drawings and paintings, and you’ll have a steady supply of wrapping paper. Want to work in that Christmas theme? Encourage your child to draw Christmas pictures – and prepare for an explosion of red and green artwork.

4. Kraft Paper

Give your Christmas gifts an old-timey look by wrapping them in Kraft paper. You can pick up large rolls of this brown paper from office supply stores, or cut your wrapping costs entirely by saving your brown paper grocery bags (currently making a comeback).

5. Take-Out Containers

Rinse out empty Chinese take-out containers or ask for a few extras when you order, and you’ll have a clever gift box that doesn’t cost a thing.

6. Wallpaper

Thrift stores often have a large collection of wallpaper – no doubt the leftovers from countless do-it-yourself projects. Dig through the stores’ offerings, and you’re likely to find several patterns that would work perfectly for Christmas (green and white stripes, silver and gold designs, etc.).

7. Fabric

Have a box of too-small-to-use fabric scraps? Put them to use as gift wrap, and you’ll turn clutter into a treasured gift. Long forgotten scarves can also be put to use for this purpose. Dig through your own collection, or sift through thrift stores to find what you need.

8. Reusables

Get creative, and make your gift wrap a part of the present. Wrap a gift in a purse, a tin, a trinket box, an old suitcase or a reusable shopping tote. Shop yard sales and thrift stores often, and there’s no end to the number of clever containers that you can find to put presents in.

How to: Wedding Favors

27 Sep

Wedding favors are small gifts given by the bride and groom to their wedding guests as a token of thanks for sharing their special day. There are lots of options when it comes to choosing your favors. For example, if your wedding reception has a theme, your favors could match that theme. Alternatively, if the wedding is around a holiday, you could make holiday themed favors. Make your own favors to save money and add an personal touch to your nuptial celebration.

Escort Card Inspiration

8 Aug

After the challenge of coordinating seating and meal choices you want all of your hard work to pay off.  An escort card table helps “escort” guests to their table and can also be a great way to express the couple’s personality.  The table can be a chance to include a favorite flower that may not fit anywhere else in the wedding and the cards are a great place to identify meal choices.

The escort card table is usually placed just outside the reception area and gives attendees a little glimpse of what awaits.  Couples can use colours that tie in the centerpieces or the wedding party dresses.  The cards usually include the guest’s name and the table where they are seated.  Most oftern tables are numbered but getting creative is always fun.  Tables can be identified by flowers, favourite locations or een songs.

Wedding Plan Suggestion

6 Aug

When you are planning your wedding it is wise to keep a list of what needs to get done, in what order you should do it and when it needs to be completed by. This will help make sure you maintain your sanity as you get closer to your big wedding day and do not have to panic and rush at the last minute to get things organized.

A lot of people take about a year to get married once they are engaged. However, this really does vary widely from couple to couple. Some couples about to enter into marriage only take a month or two to pull off a successful wedding and others may take the planning much slower and take much longer than a year. No matter how long you have to plan this information aims to give you some support as to what needs to be done in any given time period before your wedding. Note that this is a general list and you may remove or add things to it to fit your personal style of wedding and wishes.

The wedding planning tasks are divided into a few different areas as you can see below (some could belong in a couple of categories or could be broken up further, however, this aims to give an overview, feel free to modify to suit your needs).

Also note that you can Download a FREE Wedding-Calendar where you can add your own timeline to go along with it and help you stay on track. (Note that the default timeline attached is only one option, it can be condensed, expanded or completely changed to fit your timeline and approach. The same thing goes for the tasks included, you may need to add more or remove some.

Logo & Wine Label Design

When you see yours friends get married you feel insecure about the future of your relationship with them. You feel disheartened that you wont be the first one to know all the secrets! And if her spouse is better, which is always the case initially, you feel a wee bit jealous too!

But all this is only till the d-day. The bond is so strong that you feel nothing but emotional. It’s like someone your own is stepping into a whole new world. All you want is the most beautiful life for your friend at that moment.

That’s exactly how I feel right now and  I only wish her life is better than the best…It’s rare to feel unconditional love for someone. It’s rare to wish a better life for others. I like weddings because they bring out these feelings in me, especially when its my best friend’s wedding. Do you feel the same too?

Wedding Annoucements

3 Aug

Any of our wedding invitations can also be used as a wedding announcement. We have several wedding announcement verses to choose from, or you may write your own my choosing a custom verse. Just about any wedding invitation would also be appropriate for use as wedding announcement, though many couples choose a more traditional card for a wedding announcement. In the case of a destination ceremony, the couple may choose a themed card such as a tropical or beach invitation to announce their beach wedding.

What is a wedding announcement?

Wedding Announcements are sent after the wedding to announcement the marriage of the newly wed couple. Wedding announcements should be used if the bride and groom have chosen a private ceremony or a small ceremony with only close family and friends. The announcement can be sent to let the rest of the world know you have married. They are usually sent just after the bride and groom return from their wedding and/or honeymoon.

What should be included?

Wedding announcements are wording in a similar fashion to a wedding invitation, only they “announce” the wedding after it has happened rather than inviting guests to the wedding. The date of the ceremony is usually included along with the general destination (without an address). Often, the bride and groom will choose to have a reception when they return to celebrate with friends and family. If that is the case, the wedding announcement may also serve as an invitation to the reception.
